The government is watching you

Snowden told you--

The government is watching you | McClatchy: "Someone is watching you. What you spend. Where you eat. Who you call. Where you travel. What you Google. What you give to charity. Recent reports of government access to records from phone companies, Internet providers and credit card companies raise anew questions of just how much other people can know about you, especially in the age of the Internet and high technology. They watch from the air, from cameras, from computers. And you help them, volunteering vast amounts of information about yourself in the magnetic stripe on the back of your credit card, the SIM card in your phone, the sites you visit on the Internet."

Something important is happening in Turkey

And it may have far-reaching consequences--

Violence Spreads in Turkey - WSJ.com: " . . . Mr. Erdogan's decision to strike a more definitive blow against protesters this weekend appeared to have partially backfired on Sunday as demonstrations continued and five of Turkey's largest trade unions and associations—with a combined membership of 860,000 workers, doctors, dentists, engineers and architects—called a general strike for Monday, in solidarity with the protesters. . . . "The crack Erdogan has created in Turkey is very interesting because this educated middle class is clashing with the government for the first time. If these tensions continue, the uncertainty will negatively impact the political system and the economy," said Hakan Yilmaz, a political scientist at Bogazici University in Istanbul. . . ."

Taksim Square çapulcu

Lost in Taksim Square : The New Yorker: " . . . A few hours ago, Erdoğan issued a “final warning to troublemakers.” “Our patience is at an end,” he said. “I am making my warning for the last time. I say to the mothers and fathers please take your children in hand and bring them out.” Nobody knows when exactly the strike will come, but a video making the rounds on Twitter shows a row of waiting police buses, stretching to the horizon and out of sight."
